Be in Balance – Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is an exceptionally gentle, yet very effective non manipulative body therapy. It assists the body to eliminate symptoms and their underlying causes by encouraging a healthy balanced state at all levels. It is effective in treating a wide range of conditions (acute and chronic) and is suitable for people of all ages (newborn to elderly).

BCST is a whole body therapy, however craniosacral therapists are particularly interested in the system that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. Imbalance and restriction in this craniosacral system alters the function of the central nervous system and therefore can effect the health of all body systems.

Healthy tissues and fluids move freely and express subtle motions and rhythms within the body. At the core of the body, the cerebrospinal fluid expresses this motion in a tide-like ebb and flow involving all the surrounding tissues and bones. These motions can be felt under the hands of a trained therapist. The aim of BCST is to facilitate these natural expressions of health in order to enhance the bodies own self correcting abilities. When this rhythm is expressed in fullness and balance, health and wellbeing will naturally follow.

Pain and dysfunction often occur when the bodies tissues contract in response to trauma (eg birth, injuries, emotional stress). This therapy can assist with the safe dissipation and resolution of shock and held experience (without re-traumatisation). This then allows for natural adjustments to take place and for the re-emergence of health.

BCST supports the health of the whole being and has a soothing effect on the nervous system. Improvements are noticed in many areas eg, sleep, mood, physical, emotional and general health. Clients are treated without removing clothes and babies can be treated in their mothers arms, while feeding or sleeping.
